Who’s behind the Week of Visibility for Non-monogamy?
The Week of Visibility is a shared, movement-wide activity being coordinated by OPEN (Organization for Polyamory and Ethical Non-monogamy). However, the Week of Visibility belongs to all of us, and groups and individuals are encouraged to participate however they like!
Is this an annual event? Why haven’t I heard of this?
In 2023, we celebrated an inaugural Day of Visibility (July 15); this year, that’s being expanded into a full Week of Visibility!
What will happen during the Week of Visibility?
A lot! People will be hosting in-person community events around the globe. Groups are hosting online panels, workshops, and other activities. People are being invited to post and share about their non-monogamous identity and experience (if it’s safe for them to do so!). We’ll be trying to tee up media coverage to share our message with the world. Got an idea for something to add or contribute? Let us know: weekofvisibility@open-love.org.
Isn’t there already a Polyamory Day (Nov. 23)?
Yes! However, polyamory is just one form of non-monogamy. This wider week of visibility helps us build a “big tent” movement and showcase the full size and diversity of the non-monogamy community.
